I don’t know what really prompted me to set up Alt. Book Club. I have never been the one in any group of people with the creative, exciting idea that has everyone else wanting to be part of it – I spent my teenage years following everyone else’s popular culture around and never really feeling any ownership. Although I was a voracious reader, even an early love of sci-fi came directly piped from my Dad via Anne McCaffrey’s Tower and The Hive series and an instruction to enjoy Red Dwarf.
